Cyndi Stedman, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Owner of Starting Point

“I received my Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009. Since then, I have worked exclusively in pediatrics. While I specialize in infants and toddlers, I enjoy working with children up through kindergarten and beyond. I incorporated Starting Point during the summer of 2020, and I could not be happier. I love pediatric physical therapy, because it is extremely rewarding, and working with young children demands the perpetual problem-solving and critical thinking that keeps me on my toes. I am a mom to three boys, ages 8, 6, and 3. My youngest received PT and OT services through Early Intervention which allowed me to gain a parent’s perspective and further strengthen my commitment as a life-longer learner. My role as a pediatric PT truly brings me joy!”

Chelsea Davis, Physical Therapy Assistant

“I earned my Physical Therapist Assistant degree from the College of DuPage and have since been working in pediatrics with an emphasis in Early Intervention. Prior to earning my degree, I developed a strong passion for working with children and gross motor movement as a gymnastics coach. As a former gymnast, coach and now Physical Therapist Assistant, I am motivated by helping children achieve goals and skills that bring confidence which carries over into their daily life. I love being creative and integrating gymnastics as a therapeutic approach to maximize children’s physical abilities in a fun environment. Being a pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant is the best job in the world, because it gives me the opportunity to see the smiles of success after challenging times and make a positive impact on families. I also have two little boys at home which keeps my heart full and I learn new things everyday!”

Lily Shen, Doctor of Physical Therapy

“I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in May of 2012 after completing my Bachelors at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Psychology. Since completing graduate school I have worked in a variety of settings including home health, Early Intervention, and a number of schools in the Chicagoland area. I also spent a summer volunteering in Haiti providing physical therapy services to children in underserved communities. I love working in pediatrics and have worked with many clients in the low incidence population ranging in age from infancy to adulthood. I am a mother of two children, my youngest is currently receiving multiple services through the Illinois Early Intervention Program, which is near and dear to my heart. I love learning, collaborating with families and team members, and seeing the look of pride on a child’s face as they master a new goal!”
